Hey parents!
How it Works
- 1. Use the parent key
Each activity requires very little setup, supplies, or parental supervision. With the included parent key, each adventure is a surprise for them but not for you.
- 2. Scratch off an adventure
Use the parent key to choose the adventure, or let your kids use the hints and icons to choose their own.
The Kids Edition provides flexibility for parents and encourages creativity and independence for kids. - 3. Let them loose!
Whether they’re building a house made out of snacks, making special gifts to give to friends, or playing “Nature Bingo,” your kids will want to do these adventures over and over again!

This downloadable pdf includes a list of all the supplies needed for the book. You can purchase all your supplies at once to have them on hand or just have quick access to what you need if you’re on the go. Some supplies you will be able to repurpose for different challenges (ex: buy a big box of chalk and use it for multiple chalk challenges).

Kids Adventure:
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to be the first person to build a tower made of cups! Each player starts with 5 plastic cups and picks separate rooms to hide them in for the other players to find. Once you're done, come back together at a meeting spot (we’ll call this spot “Mission Control”). Turn on the Mission Impossible soundtrack and as soon as the music plays, start searching for the cups the other players hid! You can only find one cup at a time before you bring it back to Mission Control to build your tower. The first person to stack five cups wins!
Supplies:
-5 plastic cups per player
-A speaker and music streaming app

You are now maze masters! Gather a bunch of plastic cups and head outside. Fill all the cups with water and use them to create the walls of your maze! Once it’s ready, blindfold a partner, bring them to the start of your maze, and spin them around 5 times before coaching them through. Your goal is to guide them through the maze using ONLY your voice. You can tell them which way to go, but you can’t touch them at all! Do your best to keep them from knocking over any cups. To play again, make it a race and see who can guide each other through the maze the fastest!
Supplies:
-1 Blindfold
-A bunch of plastic or disposable cups (50-80+)

How would your family photo look if everyone in it had googly eyes? Let’s find out! Get a bag of googly eye stickers and sneak through your house putting sets of eyeballs on family photos, decorations, and anywhere else that you think is fun! Once you’ve pranked your whole house, see if your parents/guardians can work together to find all the places you’ve googly-eyed. Don’t forget to take some pictures before you clean up!
Supplies:
-Googly eyes
-Sticky tack if the googly eyes aren't sticky

This game of tag is an anti-gravity adventure! You’ll need a large pair of baggy sweatpants. The alien is “it,” and everyone else is an astronaut. If you’re the alien, put the pants on and reach both arms down through the legs to grab your ankles. Only your head should be sticking out. When you chase the astronauts and try to bump into them, you’ll look just like an alien with no arms! The astronauts can run away, but they must pretend that there is no gravity and can only change directions if they bump into something, like they do in the space movies. If you get tagged, swap places. Play until you need to come back down to earth.
Supplies:
-Baggy sweat pants (adult size if possible)
Solo Play Age (getting supplies not included): 8+
Kids Adventure:
Get ready to race with an alphabetical scavenger hunt! Head outside and use chalk to draw a circle on the ground around each player. Start out standing in your circle, and on the count of three, run inside to find an object that starts with the letter A. Take it outside, put it in your circle, and move on to the letter B. One at a time, find an item for every letter of the alphabet until you get all the way to Z. Please don’t gather breakable or dangerous items. The first person to collect one item for every letter and yell YAHOO at the end wins! Now play in reverse to clean everything up.
Supplies:
-Chalk

Kids Adventure:
Grab some sidewalk chalk, head outside, and get ready for a hopping good time! Create your own hopscotch pattern with at least 15 squares. If you’re not sure what hopscotch is, look it up! For this version, add a challenge to each square. It could be a dance move, an animal noise, a jumping jack—whatever you can think of! Before you start, toss a rock somewhere on your hopscotch board. When you land on that square, do the action that goes with it. Play at least five rounds. If you want, play a bonus round where you have to do every action on every square. Set a timer and race!
Supplies:
-Chalk
Solo Play Age (getting supplies not included): 6+
Kids Adventure:
Draw a big chalk rectangle and divide it into smaller squares. Fill each of the squares with any numbers between 1 and 10. Take 5 full steps away from the rectangle and make a chalk mark on the ground. This is your throwing spot. Take turns tossing bean bags onto the squares; whatever number your bean bag lands on is how many points you earn! Make it harder by moving your throwing spot further away or making some numbers “negative points” that subtract from your score. Decide what the winning score will be before you start; whoever gets to that number first wins!
Supplies:
-Chalk
-Bean bags or something similar to throw in squares
Solo Play Age (getting supplies not included): 8+
Kids Adventure:
Make a live-action picture! Head outside and use chalk to draw a rectangle that’s bigger than you on your driveway (or anywhere it’s safe for you to play). Once you’ve drawn the outline, use objects from your yard or garage to create an outdoor scene inside the rectangle. You could use sticks, flowers, and leaves to make trees or try using rocks or fallen leaves to make the ground. Add sky, clouds, and the Sun with whatever you can find! Once you’ve added as many items to your giant picture as possible, carefully lie down in the middle of your scene to make yourself part of the picture. Find an adult or sibling to take a photo!

-Chalk

You’ve got what it takes to host your own TV show! First, make a special backdrop (like a sign with your show’s name on it), so people know what they’re watching. Then, think of at least three different topics to cover in your show. You could include a story about your day, an update on the weather, or a guest interview (it could be a parent or even your pet!). If you’re doing this with siblings or friends, co-host! Borrow some business clothes from your parents/guardians to dress the part and practice a few times to make your show perfect. You can make it bigger than you, or as small as a pizza.

If you’re playing with multiple people, trade cards before you start playing. Now, let the fun begin! Search for your items one at a time. Build yourself an at-home bowling alley! Set up bottles or cans at the end of a hallway in a pyramid formation. Then, find a soft, medium-sized ball (something that won’t scuff the walls) to knock your “pins” over. Each person gets two rolls in a row to see how many pins they can knock down. Tally up your points (one point for every pin) before setting up the pins for the next person. If you get a strike by knocking all the pins down on the first roll of your turn, create a silly rule—like standing on one leg—that everyone has to follow the rest of the game. Play five rounds and then see who got the most points!
Supplies:
-10 water bottles

-Way to keep score

Once you look like top secret agents, go into each other’s rooms and secretly move something around that the other might not notice! Maybe tie all of their shoelaces together or put their favorite stuffed animal in a funny spot. When you’re done, see if you can figure out what the other spy did to YOUR room. Whoever can spot the prank in their room the fastest wins! Play at least three rounds.

Fill your super soakers with water and a few drops of your team’s food coloring. Set a timer for 15 minutes, then—ready, set, SPRAY! If you run out of your color-coded fuel, refill! Whichever team is the cleanest at the end wins. If you want to keep having fun, play multiple rounds. Avoid spraying houses, cars, or pets!
